Introduction
We are invited to hold our annual ‘NVKD lecture days 2018’ at Wetterskip Fryslân in the city Leeuwarden in the northern part of the Netherlands. Marianne Thannhauser at the Wetterskip will host the meeting from 22-24 march.

Taxonomic Workshop
The first day 22 March, will focus on the traditional taxonomic workshop; it’s the 9th workshop and so, a great tradition in the meantime. Bart van de Vijver will again set up an exciting program and will present an update of the Achnanthidium minutissimum complex.
Diatom Lectures
On Friday 23 march is the annual lecture day (no costs) with a number of inspiring diatom lectures. Before lunch we follow the tradition and hold the ''NVKD Members'' meeting.
The traditional NVKD dinner will be organized at Restaurant Wannee in Leeuwarden on Friday evening.
Excursion
Location not yet available but most probably somewhere in the southern part off Friesland

Presenting Posters
This year there is an possibility presenting posters during the lecture day on 23 March. After the lunch break, the authors get the time to present their poster to their colleagues in 5-8 min sessions. More info here
Student grants
The NVKD provides a total of 5 scholarships, each with a value of 100-200 euros. The scholarship is intended to cover the travel, accommodation and accommodation costs of the student. All students, enrolled at a university and not yet promoted / undergraduate, qualify. More info here
Important deadlines
1 March 2018: student scholarship application
10 March 2018: register via the registration form taxonomic workshop, lecture day and excursion.
10 March 2018: give up for dinner on Friday 23 March via registration form.
