The NVKD meeting Ghent, 8-10 juni 2017

Introduction
After a fabulous jubilee meeting in Utrecht 2016 we are invited to hold our annual ‘NVKD study days 2017’ at Ghent University. Wim Vyverman’s group at the department of Protistology & Aquatic Ecology will host the meeting from 8-10 June 2017

Saturday, 10 juni 2017 Excursion
The first day 8 june, will focus on the traditional taxonomic workshop (€ 150 p.p.); it’s the 8th workshop and so, a great tradition in the meantime. Bart Van de Vijver will set up an exciting program on Small-celled naviculoid diatoms: Navicula seminulum & co.
On Friday 9 June is the annual lecture day (no costs) with a number of inspiring diatom lectures. Before lunch we follow the tradition and hold the ''NVKD Members'' meeting. The traditional NVKD dinner will be a BBQ organized at Ghent University on Friday evening.
Excursion
On Saturday 10 June we will meet for a half-day excursion which will bring us this year to the nature reserve Bourgoyen-Ossemeersten Gent.

Student grants
The NVKD provides 5 grants each of 100-200 Euro. The grant should cover travel and accomodation costs of candidates to Ghent. All students registered with an university and not holding a PhD are qualified to apply.
